  Great home-cooked breakfast! The Railcar Hobo is highly recommended. The pancakes are also delicious and fluffy. The food arrived quickly, and coffee and tea were self-service which I prefer. While the service was great, this restaurant is not the place you go for service, but for great food. Very homey and rustic.

  We visited the Big Bend while 'stranded' in Golden overnight in summer 2015, due to vehicle repairs. We had walked most of the length and breadth of Golden during our unexpected day, and ended up sneaking in around 12:30-1pm towards when the place winds down.

  The gruff and taciturn service nearly turned us away... But in hindsight, I would be grumpy too if i had to deal with that many entitled people looking for a cheap/free place to plug in an iphone.

  To start this review off, the place was cozy and the walls were covered with fun décor. I enjoyed the French toast which came with bacon, eggs, hash browns all served on a HUGE plate. My partner had the pancakes, bacon, eggs and hash browns and was smiles the whole time. Our food was served in a timely matter and hot. However, we did not experience good customer service. Right from the moment the server greeted us it was terrible. No smile, no proper greeting, no "how are you" and a tone/facial expressions that told us we were an inconvenience. We started to notice this as a trend for a few other tables, except the one in which held a elderly group. We also noticed a child behind the counter and no other servers on hand. This changed at 9 am when two other servers showed up and started work. The server who was handling our table had a 360 degree change in attitude, but only towards her coworkers. Laughter, smiles and conversations were had between the three. When we were done we paid and supplied a tip even though we didn't want to. I am not sure if the server was having a bad day or if this was her regular treatment towards customers. Either way we did no appreciate it and made us not come back the rest of the trip.
